Ingrid Bowen | Biography
Australian artist working in traditional watercolour and contemporary mixed media techniques, exploring intrinsic responses to landscape. Often nostalgic and whimsical in representation, Ingrid draws details in and out of focus from observations and recollections of places both lost and yearned for. Her narrative has developed to examine innate connections to terrain and storylines, largely informed by responses to her surroundings and her own history.
Largely self-taught, Ingrid works in a studio space at Eramboo Artist Environment in Terrey Hills on Sydney’s northern beaches. Surrounded by National Park and with lively wildlife as neighbours, the location is quintessentially Australian and presses into Ingrid’s studio and artwork.
With a focus on landscapes and exploring connections to country by drawing in and out of focus both the details and broader sense of place her work is an evolving travel diary from times lost to hopes for the future.
