David began making copper vessels after years of sculpting and a successful ceramics practice.
The copper acts as a canvas for David’s experiments in alchemy, which can be uncontrollable and unpredictable. The results are exciting, individually handcrafted artworks.
The vessels have a history as off-cuts from plumbing used in skyscrapers, often carrying evidence of their past. Each patina builds upon these origins using various techniques to create colours and textures. This is then sealed and preserved with a layer of lacquer. Each object is unique and can be combined with others to form a still life or used as a functional vessel.
