Larissa works out of her home studio, an underground bunker, on Tamborine Mountain, Queensland. She takes inspiration from her surroundings and uses local clays in combination with porcelain. Larissa’s sophisticated use of colour and texture, mostly embedded in a nerikomi style, creates rich layering effects.
‘It is always my intention to challenge some of the established principles associated with the use of clay and particularly, porcelain. Starting with a fascination of patterns and contrasting texture, I embed hectic nerikomi pattern slices of colour, stoneware and raw minerals into fine porcelain forms’ – Larissa Warren.
