Collection: Gabrielle Collins & Sandra McMahon | When Two Ends Meet
When Two Ends Meet by artists Gabrielle Collins and Sandra McMahon, is inspired by Cockatoo Island, Sydney Harbour.
Cockatoo Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site offering breath-taking views of Sydney Harbour and a unique built environment shaped by its history as a convict penal settlement and later, one of Australia's biggest shipyards.
Collins & McMahon respond to the islands' rich history through their own distinct lense. Collins aims to evoke a feeling of time and place through experimentation with tone, form and mark making.
McMahon continues her interest in constructed spaces using the repetition of shapes, patterns and textures to represent the vast variety of architectural details found amongst the island's historic buildings.
