Kirstie Rea Shed [amber/brown] 2019
Kirstie Rea Shed [amber/brown] 2019
Original artwork by Kirstie Rea.
Kirstie Rea began her iconic Shed series in the USA in the late 1990’s as an expression of her memory of distant landscapes surrounding Canberra. Originally the sheds were formed by grinding and polishing glass that had been poured molten hot into a mold and then cooled and hardened. Vegetation and other aspects of the rural landscape were
incorporated into the glass sheds, symbolising the region and showing how the shed, a man-made element, seems to become part of the land over the years.
