But we are spirits of another sort, watercolour and graphite, 15.5cm x 16cm (image), 2022. Framed size: 33cm x 41cm, double mat of gold border under off white, with black frame.

These words were spoken by Oberon, from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.  The grass, the leaf and the rock are all spirits from the natural world, which we have ignored in our human arrogance.  We seem to think that humankind is the only species with a spirit.  Not so.  Perhaps we are not as smart as we think we are.
