In continuing to develop this body of work, Curtis’s keen eye for mathematical precision has become peripheral, yielding to a more meditative and asymmetric alignment of form. Working with a traditional glassblowing technique sommerso, Matthew builds a layered and shifting palate of hues. The development in the composition of these fields of colour, accentuates their margins and intersections. For Curtis, these forms embody a philosophy of how objects and ideas might yield to accommodate each other to fit together harmoniously.
