The silence was unbroken, watercolour, graphite and gouache, 14.5 x 16.5 cm.

At the end of a long hot summer which filled the air with the scent of eucalyptus and the shrill song of the cicada, the season’s close brought a new silence. As time goes on, our insects diminish in their numbers. I hope we don’t experience an unbroken silence. It is up to us.
