Thou shalt like an airy spirit go, watercolour and graphite, 17.5cm x 11.5cm (image), 2022. Framed size: 41cm x 33cm, double mat of gold border under off white, with black frame.

These words were spoken by Titania, from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and seemed to fit this leaf perfectly. In its aging it is becoming quite lacy and more ethereal with each passing day. I love seeing the leaves age in this way – they are full of character, colour and charm, and no doubt could tell many an interesting story about the past season if it could talk. SF
